Stern Pinball honors Elvira’s 40 years by offering a highly collectible and very limited special 40th Anniversary Edition Elvira House of Horrors pinball machine. Limited to 199 units globally, Elvira’s 40th Anniversary Edition model includes a custom Elvira Dagger Shooter Knob, an exclusive autographed Elvira trading card, and an Elvira autographed best-selling autobiography book, Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark. Legends of Valhalla Pinball Machine Released

Legends of Valhalla Pinball Machine Released by American Pinball. Are your skills sharpened for battle?

Legends of Valhalla, designed by Riot Pinball, is the 4th American Pinball title. Legends of Valhalla is an immersive pinball machine which brings the player into the world of the Norse gods and other Viking mythology. The game is a standard body design, utilizing three flippers offering a variety of fast and unique shots, including 3 metal ramps. The game rules have a variety of objectives that the player must either start or complete as they work their way through the game attempting to not only reach the wizard mode Valhalla, the majestic hall of dead Vikings, but also advance to the final epic battle known as Ragnarok, the super wizard mode.

The Legends of Valhalla pinball machine has 16 intricate modes programmed in the form of Viking legends for players to explore along with many multiballs and several mini features that are unlocked during specific actions while playing the game.

The game also exhibits a couple of fun playfield features such as the Kraken, which grabs the ball via a hidden magnet mounted underneath the playfield and flings it around in chaos. Also featured is a Viking ship where the player builds their army by locking balls inside to begin multiball play. Additionally, Thor’s hammer, which is mounted on the back panel and activated by a 3rd flipper button, comes crashing down onto the ball which is held by a magnet just over the top lanes, simulating a dramatic lightning strike, adding to the gameplay experience.

American Pinball are releasing just 300 Deluxe Edition machines, with the Classic Editions being released when all 300 Delux Editions have been shipped.

Legends of Valhalla Classic Edition includes black powder-coated rails, legs, backbox hinges, lockdown bar, over 100 RGB lights, interactive Thor’s Hammer, hundreds of callouts, 22 total game modes including various Multiball modes.

Legends of Valhalla Deluxe Edition is limited to 300 units and includes enhanced features such as a mirrored backglass, topper, upgraded powder coated side rails, backbox hinges, lockdown bar and legs, shaker motor, sculpted and hand-painted figures, and anti-glare “Magic” Playfield Glass.

The new Insider Connected platform by Stern Pinball

Last month Stern Pinball launched their new Insider Connected Platform, describing it as “…a comprehensive technology initiative to connect the universe of Stern pinball machines.” But what exactly is it and how will it enhance our pinball experience?

Stern’s new platform went live with the launch of Godzilla earlier this month, with the full scope of features, including a mobile app, scheduled for roll out over the next year. Moving forward, all Stern Spike 2 LCD games produced after the September launch will ship with the Insider Connected system installed; this includes new runs of previously released titles. In addition, any existing Stern LCD game can be added to Insider Connected by installing a simple, inexpensive retrofit kit available from Stern distributors.

Enhance & Extend Player Engagement

Stern’s new platform is designed to enhance and extend player engagement with games across both home and commercial environments. It also presents professional operators of pinball machines with a robust set of tools to drive location play, build player loyalty, analyse performance, make adjustments remotely and maintain the machines. Furthermore, Stern can utilise the platform to highlight a particular game title or to engage the community.

Registration for Insider Connected is free. Players can either scan a QR code at the games or go to the Stern Pinball website where they will need to enter an email address and create a password. Once players register for Insider Connected, they are issued a unique QR Code that can be used to identify that player at any connected pinball machine, anywhere in the world. When a player logs into the machine, they can track their progress, earn new game specific achievements, engage with the player community and participate in promotions and Challenge Quests.

Stern Launch Godzilla Pinball Machine

Godzilla Pinball Machine Launched

As predicted in our March Pinball Rumour Mill blog, Stern have today launched their new Godzilla pinball machine.

“CHICAGO, IL – September 14, 2021 – Stern Pinball, Inc. and Toho International, Inc., the subsidiary of the Japanese entertainment studio Toho Co., Ltd, announce a new line of pinball machines based on the iconic Toho film franchise featuring the King of the Monsters, Godzilla!  The Godzilla pinball machines are available in Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition (LE) models.”

Godzilla is recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest continuously running movie franchise in history, having been in on-going production from 1954 to the present day; a total of 28 Japanese films, plus two American films released in 1998 and 2014 have been produced.

The 1998 American film release was accompanied by the launch of Sega’s now classic Godzilla pinball machine. However, the 2014 American film release saw no accompanying pinball launch, and rumours of a forthcoming Godzilla pin have been circulating ever since.

Players Become Godzilla!

In Stern Pinball’s Godzilla monster-packed pinball adventure, players become Godzilla! The evil aliens, the Xiliens, use mind control rays to take control of the monsters King Ghidorah, Gigan, Megalon, Ebirah, and Titanosaurus. The Xiliens are demanding all of Earth’s resources. Godzilla and its allies, Mothra, Rodan, and Anguirus, battle the Xilien invasion with the goal of conquering Mechagodzilla to become King of the Monsters!

Godzilla Multiball

Chaos and destruction ensue on the playfield with Godzilla multiball, started by shooting one of the various shots in and through the centrally located skyscraper.  In the Premium and LE models, a motor actuates the skyscraper, diverting balls through each of its five stories as it collapses, ultimately locking three balls on its roof.  The Premium/LE playfield also features a collapsing bridge ramp. This animated breakaway ramp is guarded by a custom moulded Godzilla and can divert pinballs back to the flipper or directly onto the playfield during Bridge Attack multiball.

Stern’s Godzilla pinball machine is available in Pro, Premium and Limited Edition

All models feature an innovative “Magna Grab” magnetic newton ball, capable of catching pinballs from five different shot paths, including off the plunge. This device can also divert pinballs to set up shots from the upper left flipper. The game also includes the iconic title song “Godzilla” by Blue Oyster Cult, stunning hand-drawn artwork by Zombie Yeti, intricate wireform ramps, three spinning targets (Heat Ray, Mechagodzilla, and Monster Rampage), three flippers, three “powerline” themed stand-up targets and a UFO pop pumper. The game highlights video and audio from ten* Toho Showa Era Godzilla films to create a one-of-a-kind immersive Godzilla pinball experience.

On the Premium and LE models, Mechagodzilla features a motorized three-bank target set which rotates to reveal a spinner and jump ramp. Players will engage the Kaiju in battle by launching  pinballs with the jump ramp and bashing the magnetic ball catch on its chest to start Mechagodzilla multiball.

Only 1,000 LE machines will be available. The LE version includes an exclusive full color mirrored backglass inspired by Mechagodzilla, iconic custom cabinet artwork, custom high gloss metallic silver powder-coated pinball armor, a custom designer autographed bottom arch, exclusive inside art blades, upgraded audio system, anti-reflection pinball playfield glass, shaker motor, a sequentially numbered plaque, and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were created in 1984 by comic book writer-artist team Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, who named the four turtles after Italian Renaissance artists, and published the characters’ adventures in comic books published by Mirage Studios.

Chicago Gaming Announce Cactus Canyon Remake

In a seminar last week at the Southern-Fried Gaming Expo in Atlanta, Ryan White of Chicago Gaming confirmed that the company has been working on a remake of the popular Bally title, Cactus Canyon.

Chicago Gaming Company has been making a name for itself in pinball circles over the past few years by remaking several Bally/Williams classics, including Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars, and Monster Bash. They have worked with Planetary Pinball and in the early days, Stern, to help produce them, and the quality has been top drawer.

Chicago Gaming remakes have so far featured three different models, with the higher-end machines being loaded with additional features, such as ColorDMD’s and cool toppers.

Bally Cactus Canyon

Bally’s Cactus Canyon was launched in October 1998 as was well known as being the last traditional pinball machine produced by Bally/Williams.

Designed by Matt Coriale and Tom Kopera, Bally’s original had a western cowboy theme that delivered plenty of humour and fun gameplay, with the game being highly rated among players.

In addition, Cactus Canyon’s very low production run of just 908 units makes it one of the most collectable pinball machines of all time.

Chicago Gaming Cactus Canyon Remake

At the Southern-Fried Gaming Expo in Atlanta, Ryan White discussed their new Cactus Canyon remake and detailed how each of Chicago Gaming’s previous three remakes introduced new features such as HD animations, larger displays, interactive toppers, enhanced playfield toys and RGB lighting effects.

Ryan also described how Chicago Gaming take an original game and disassemble/reassemble it several times to understand how it was put together, using that knowledge in conjunction with original documentation.

He also stated Chicago Gaming has over 850 playfields for their Cactus Canyon remake already screen printed and clear coated, ready to start production.

As with Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars and Monster Bash, the new Cactus Canyon will be produced in three variants: Limited Edition, Standard Edition and Classic Edition, with the full specification of all three editions still to be released.

Avengers Pro Pinball Machine

The Avengers Pro pinball machine recently installed at Sanctuary Gaming Centre is an all-new design, based on the Marvel comic book series and is a six-ball, three-flipper game with the third flipper positioned half-way up on the left side of the playfield.

Avengers Pro Pinball Playfield

On the Pro Edition playfield, the Avengers tower grabs the ball and builds virtual locks for Iron Man Multiball. The description also suggests it uses optos to sense the speed of the ball, acting like a vari-target. The Pro Edition also includes drop targets on the left side to light up a bonus feature matrix in front. The Doctor Strange spinning disc acts much like the Tesseract spinner on the original Avengers game, only this one has a single post and no model mounted over the disc.

In addition to distinct hand-drawn artwork, the new Pro Edition also features an Avengers Computer Bingo grid 3-target drop bank, a Thor captive ball, Hulk spinning target and custom intricate wireform ramps. So the Avengers Pro pinball machine will challenge even the very best pinball aficionados.

Special Effects Wizard Eiji Tsuburaya

2021 marks the 55th anniversary of the Ultraman Series, which started in 1966.

The first entry of the Ultraman Series, Ultra Q, featured mankind encountering the giant monsters known as Kaiju. The series was released in 1966 by the special effects studio Tsuburaya Productions, which was founded in 1963 by special effects wizard Eiji Tsuburaya, the man who brought such monsters to life as the King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla.

The franchise really took off with its second entry; Ultraman the show, that introduced the first titular Ultra Warrior fighting off Kaiju, and alien invaders from space. Ultraman was pioneer in the beginning of Japan’s “Monster Craze”, so Tsuburaya’s third entry into the Ultraman Series; Ultraseven introduced the second titular Ultra Warrior, as well as expanding on the concept of space alien invaders.

Even after Eiji Tsuburaya’s death on January 25 in 1970, the Ultraman Series has continued to live on as one of his greatest creations.

Production for all editions combined is limited to 500 units worldwide. And as with Spooky’s recent Halloween Pinball Machine, there is no limit on the number of Collector’s Editions, Blood Sucker Editions, or Standard Editions within the 500 limit, customers will decide the total number of each edition depending entirely on demand.

Spooky Pinball LLC has today launched its Halloween Pinball Machine, based on John Carpenter’s 1978 classic film.

Spooky Halloween Features

Spooky’s new Halloween Pinball Machine features clips from the original film, plus custom speech from original cast member PJ Soles. The backbox includes a ridiculously cool custom-lit interactive topper of the iconic Halloween artwork that has a working knife, with the awesome backglass artwork designed by Jason Edmiston.

Speaking of knives, the custom handle is a knife and Michael peeks out of the bushes in an awesome triple interactive toy bank. There’s are a flashing pumpkin sculpt, a triple-lighted pumpkin drop bank, a Judith Myers tombstone ball lock, and triple upper playfields to help get you up to the balcony from the big finale.

Full details of Spooky’s new Halloween Pinball Machine have not yet been released, however Spooky has revealed the three editions:

Halloween Standard Edition

Halloween Standard Edition – no addons and to be built last. Includes, as do all editions: 7 pinballs, dual inlane lifters, triple interactive Michael Hedge, toyfour custom stainless ramps, Judith Meyers tombstone drop target ball lock, lighted jack-o-lantern drop bank, three upper playfields, one playable Smith’s Grove Sanitarium playfield, one playable house playfield, one passive playfield, 360 degree led flashers, sculpted pumpkin with 360 led flasher inside, custom metal ball drop down mech, dual spinner loop (on the house playfield), 150 interactive RGB lighting, upper playfield RGB strip lighting, seven physical ball locks.

Halloween Blood Sucker Edition

Blood Sucker Edition – to be built before the Standard Edition and will include clear plastic protectors, interior graphics, knocker/shaker, interactive RGB speaker kit, standard powder coated speaker grill, target decals on the coin box/lid, powder coated bill accepter door, custom metallic flake powder coat, Blood Sucker Edition plaque and flipper button protective armour.

Halloween Collector’s Edition

Halloween Collector’s Edition – to be built first and will include coloured plastic protectors, interior graphics, knocker/shaker, interactive RGB speaker kit, custom powder coated speaker grill, target decals on the coin box/lid, powder coated bill accepter door, custom vein powdercoat, custom laser cut side rails, Collectors Edition numbered plaque, custom interactive licenced topper, custom sculpted shoot rod and additional licenced decorative toy.

A clear coated butter cabinet add-on will be available for the Blood Sucker and Collector’s Edition machines.
