When no headphones are plugged in this device, the volume knob adjusts the machine’s speaker volume without having to open the coin door or pause the game in play.  When headphones are plugged into this device, it disconnects the sound from the machine’s speakers & redirects it to the headphones.  Anytime the headphones are plugged in, the volume knob adjusts the headphone’s volume.
